There is a lot of wiring in cars alongside the technology, which includes sensors and cameras, and when something goes wrong with one of them, it creates issues for the vehicle that need rectifying. These jobs can take hours to complete if the technician doing the work does not have the necessary skills or knowledge, which is why businesses look to outsource work to Repairify to complete.
An example of this was when the Repairify workshop was handed the keys to a 2015 Jaguar XF, which was sitting in a customer’s garage. This car’s problem stemmed from a faulty rain and light sensor that led to the vehicle’s headlights being permanently on.
You may think with this type of issue, it was the sensor on the car that was at fault. However, you would be wrong. Before arriving on site, the fault was diagnosed and when we arrived we got to work finding the issue. We started by removing the cowling and trims in the vehicle and on getting to the electrics, we found a broken wire loom and repaired it. On completion, we tested the light sensor to ensure it was working exactly the way the manufacturer intended it to. In addition, we took the time to check the headlights worked on the auto setting, which is aided by the sensors on the car, and it did exactly what it needed to do. This meant we knew our job was done and the car was sent on its way, so it could go back to the customer.
Overall, the job took about two hours but the additional time we saved the customer meant that we significantly reduced the key-to-key times of the job and ensured that the work was completed correctly, so the system worked exactly as the manufacturer designed it to.
